Award for Radio Free Afghanistan Reporters
(Prague/Kabul) RFE/RL congratulates two journalists for Radio Free Afghanistan (RFA) who were recognized by the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ACCI) for excellence in reporting. Khan Mohammad Seend and Abdul Hameed Pazhman, both Kabul-based reporters for the RFA, received certificates of appreciation from ACCI President Qurban Mohammad Haqjo on August 9 for their work in covering the Chamber’s recent elections and efforts to forge unity within the Afghan business community.
The certificates express sincere and heartfelt thanks to the journalists for “very active participation in widely publishing ACCI activities, particularly, the comprehensive coverage of the ACCI election process.” RFE/RL President Jeffrey Gedmin applauded the honors saying, “These awards are testimony to the diligence and commitment of our journalists, and the crucial role that a free press plays in the democratic process by monitoring and reporting on local politics and events.”
The ACCI award is the second professional honor for Mr. Seend and Mr. Pazhman this year. Both reporters received certificates of appreciation from the Afghanistan Ministry for Information Technology in April for thorough coverage of developments in the field of technology.
Radio Free Afghanistan, the Dari- and Pashto-language service of RFE/RL, broadcasts 12 hours of programming a day, with programs produced in Prague and the service’s Kabul Bureau and transmitted to listeners via shortwave, satellite and AM and FM signals provided by the International Broadcasting Bureau.
