A car belonging to RFE/RL correspondent Halyna Tereshchuk was torched while parked in front of her home in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv on January 29. Tereshchuk was not in the car at the time, and no other vehicles nearby were damaged. Tereshchuk, who has worked for RFE/RL since 2000, has said she suspects the attack was linked to her professional activities. The prosecutor-general’s office in Lviv is treating the case as arson. The Ukrainian office of the rights group Freedom House has condemned the attack, and said that “arson or other methods of destruction of vehicles and property are becoming increasingly used as a means to pressure active people in Ukraine.”
Briefly is a series of short video interviews with RFE/RL journalists about their work and the challenges they face.
