WASHINGTON — Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) is pleased to announce the appointment of Natia Zambakhidze as the new director of its Georgian Service.
Zambakhidze is a highly experienced journalist and an accomplished international relations professional whose appointment reflects the service’s commitment to journalistic excellence, domestic and global prominence, and growth. She has an extensive background in TV journalism in Georgia, with over a decade of experience in reporting, production, and editorial roles. Most recently, she worked as senior political counselor for the Georgian Embassy in Washington, D.C.
“Our Georgian Service has a reputation for integrity and professionalism that we plan to build on. We look forward to Natia’s leadership in diversifying its programs, innovating on new platforms, and reaching new audiences to strengthen our impact in Georgia” said RFE/RL Vice President Nenad Pejic.
Zambakhidze, who will be based in Prague, the Czech Republic, replaces David Kakabadze, who joined RFE/RL in 1993, became the service’s director in 2005, and left RFE/RL in February. The Georgian Service is known locally as Radio Tavisupleba.
