RFE/RL Brings Two Films To One World In Prague

This year’s festival features two films supported by RFE/RL’s Current Time digital TV network: Ukrainian filmmaker Alisa Kovalenko’s Home Games, which takes a hard look at the reality of broken homes and strong women through the struggles of young professional footballer Alina; and Russian filmmaker Vitaly Mansky’s Putin’s Witnesses, which documents the events that followed the unexpected resignation of Russian President Boris Yeltsin in December 1999 and led to Vladimir Putin’s electoral victory the following March.
The theme of One World 2019 is “Safe Proximity,” a reference to a state in which people in society, even if they are different, are capable of listening and understanding one another. It is explored through 117 films from 51 countries in 13 categories, including 8 Czech premiers.
The festival is organized by People in Need, a non-governmental, humanitarian organization based in Prague.
