(Yerevan, Armenia) RFE/RL’s Armenian service has been presented the “Responsible Coverage” award by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Armenian Public Relations Association (APRA) for its daily youth radio program, “Maxliberty.”

“We are honored to have ‘Maxliberty’ recognized for coverage of the most important people in Armenia – its youth,” said, Harry Tamrazain, Director of RFE/RL’s Armenian Service. “Being acknowledged both internationally by UNICEF and locally by APRA is very significant for ‘Maxliberty’ as a program, and for RFE/RL as an organization.”

“Maxliberty” has provided daily coverage of social and economic issues related to Armenian youth, university life, political activities, and popular culture, since April 2001.

UNICEF and APRA have jointly sponsored the media awards since 2005, annually honoring two media outlets and two journalists for coverage of issues important to promoting the rights of children and young people.

RFE/RL’s Armenian Service broadcasts five hours of programming a day to Armenia via satellite and FM signals provided by local affiliate stations. Armenian Service programming is also available via the Internet on the service’s website, as well as in English on www.rferl.org.
