Network Engineer

RFE/RL, Inc. is looking for a Network Engineer to join our Network Engineering team. In this position you will be responsible for designing and deploying of RFE/RL network infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
- Design and implement network infrastructure projects such as data center build, network upgrades, firewall migrations, IP address management, DMZ design etc.
- Design, test, and implement enterprise solutions to improve network performance, capacity, and availability.
- Manage network performance to maintain high quality data transmission service on the RFE/RL LAN and WAN network. .
- Work closely with the other Network Engineering colleagues on network related projects.
- Work with Network Operations team on maintaining the RFE/RL network up and running.
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and work experience in the IT networking area.
Work experience:
- Work experience in NetworkEngineering activities i.e. designing and implementing network technologies.
Competencies:
- High level understanding of TCP/IP technologies, protocols and network topology.
- Good understanding of network related processes & functions.
- Working experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, AAA, etc.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work with others on a team – be a team player, who can interact and operate effectively with peers and other associates within a collegial, and yet demanding work environment.
- Cisco certification (CCNP or similar) is a plus.
Languages:
- Working knowledge of English
- Czech is a plus
This is a locally recruited full-time position on a one-year assignment initially, with the possibility of extension for an open-ended contract after one year. The opportunity is open preferably to applicants based in the Czech Republic, who are expected to work in RFE/RL Prague’s office.
Appointment against this post is on a local basis only. Please note that for the locally advertised positions preference will be given to those with a work permit and/or a valid residence status in the Czech Republic. Locally recruited employees should reside within commuting distance of Prague, Czech Republic, or be willing to move to take up work. They are not eligible for allowances applicable to candidates who are internationally recruited. Rather, they receive statutory benefits as per Czech labor law. Salary scales for locally recruited employees are based on the best prevailing local conditions. RFE/RL does, however, cover the costs of interview travel and, upon appointment, some relocation costs.
Note: In response to changing operational requirements, RFE/RL retains the discretion not to make an appointment, or to modify the job specifications for a particular vacancy.
