Marc Thiessen
Marc Thiessen is a weekly columnist at The Washington Post, where he writes about foreign and domestic policy, and a regular contributor to Fox News. He is also a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute where he studies American presidential leadership and counterterrorism.
A member of the White House senior staff under President George W. Bush, Marc served as chief speechwriter to the president and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. He is the author of New York Times bestseller Courting Disaster: How the CIA Kept America Safe and How Barack Obama Is Inviting the Next Attack (2010).
Thiessen was appointed to serve as a Member of the RFE/RL Board of Directors on January 17, 2025.

RFE/RL, Inc. is a private nonprofit corporation incorporated in the State of Delaware. Our Board of Directors makes all major policy determinations governing Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s (RFE/RL) operations. Each member of the RFE/RL Board of Directors is required by federal law to have “requisite expertise in journalism, technology, broadcasting, diplomacy, or appropriate language or cultural understanding” relevant to RFE/RL’s mission. Government employees are prohibited by law from serving on the RFE/RL Board.
