About the Service
RFE/RL’s Kosovo Service, known locally as Radio Evropa e Lirë, provides a platform for diverse voices and fosters mutual understanding in a fragile media environment.
The Service is a trusted source, with a 2023 survey finding that 90% of Kosovars trust it as a reliable news source and 79% believe it increases their knowledge of the news.
The Service’s flagship television program, Exposé, which airs on Kosovo’s national public broadcaster, tackles pressing domestic, regional and international issues.
The Service is dedicated to impactful investigative reporting, uncovering high-level corruption, such as the million-dollar contract from Serbia for a company indicted in the armed attack in Banjska.
Journalists exposed systemic government inefficiencies in an award-winning video feature on the crisis of waste management in the Western Balkans.
Through the video series “Explained” and popular weekly newsletter “In 3 Minutes” the Service explains complex topics for its broad audience.
Beyond investigative work, the Kosovo Service remains a platform for victims of domestic violence, wartime rape survivors, and missing persons, ensuring their voices remain part of the public conversation.
The Service has received international recognition for its reporting on climate change and sustainable development, with an award-winning story exposing the waste crisis in the Western Balkans and the region’s inadequate waste management practices.
