About the Service

Marsho Radio is the only international Chechen-language broadcaster, and its sister site, Caucasus.Realities, provides uncensored Russian-language news.

The Service covers Russia’s full-scale war on Ukraine and its unique effect on the North Caucasus region. Journalists recently documented staggering changes in the curriculum of North Caucasian secondary schools that include reducing foreign language lessons and implementing studies on military training.

Marsho Radio journalists have documented the stories of Chechen fighters who took up arms to fight on behalf of Ukraine against Russia.

The Service provides valuable platforms for communities facing persecution in the region including women and girls, the LGBTQ+ community, refugees, and more.

Historical podcast Stalin’s Deportation covers the deportation of Chechen people and others during World War II and the resulting generational trauma and political issues.

The project Caucasus: Conflicts covers the modern history of the North Caucasus, recalling wars, terrorist attacks, and key political events over the last 30 years.
