Karen Johnsen

Karen Johnsen is RFE/RL’s Acting CFO and Assistant Treasurer. She joined RFE/RL as Comptroller in January 2020 and became RFE/RL’s Director of Financial Planning & Analysis in September 2024. She has 20 years of experience in financial management in the non-profit sector. She joined RFE/RL from the Washington DC based NGO Global Integrity, where she served as Managing Director, Finance and Operations. Prior to this she served as Chief Financial Officer of Aspen Art Museum for eight years. Johnsen holds a Master’s Degree in Accounting & Financial Management from Keller Graduate School of Management at DeVry University and a Master of Science in Applied Mathematics from Colorado State University.
